About Making Unnakai, And My New Hobbies

Hi guys.
I wanna apologize to my blog for abandoning it like that. Sorry!! But I’m back.
I’m proud to say that I found LOTS of new hobbies! Yup and I mean LOTS!!

Anyone can and will have countless number of hobbies if you are introduced to Fevicryl Hobby ideas! My love for this product started when I walked into a famoust craft store in town called PKG. I went with my friend because she heard about this stuff from her friend. We were like kids at a toy store. I WANT THAT!

I bought all the stuff needed for Glass Painting(which is VERY easy to do), shilpkar, fabric paint, play dough, and many other stuff.
Shipkar has two dough inside. Mix it in equal quantities and mould it into different shapes, stick it to flower pots, photo frames, literally anywhere. When it dries, paint it using fabric colors. I made flowers and sticked it on the most boring looking pot I saw lying around. Painted the flowers pink and the pot, black. Now it ooks Bold And Beautiful! 😀
Play dough is just for fun 😛
Glass painting turns out good even if you are the messy person with shaky hands!

My other new hobby is cooking. Started out as a hobby, but now its a passion. I make one dish a day, mostly tea-time snacks. 70% of the time, my dish comes out amazing. Lets not talk about the other 30% which turns out to be a complete disaster(even my dogs think twice before eating!)

Yesterday(sunday), I planned to watch three movies. Monte Carlo, Bad Teacher and Crimes of Fashion. I wanted to watch something other than the Guy-movies in the IMDb Top 250 list (which btw is going good.) Monte carlo was very boring. Fast forwarded through most of it. It was like a bad rip off of the Lizzie-Mcguire, the movie. Bad Teacher was hilarious (Jason Segal was super cute!). Crimes of fashion was also good.

The whole family was at home, infront of TV or computer. That’s when my dad asked if I was making any snack (My dad became a fan of my cooking after tasting the Gulab Jamun I made. And I DID NOT make it using Instant Gulab Jamun mix!) I wasn’t really planning too, but the fact that someone asked was more than enough reason for me to run to the kitchen and start scanning the kitchen for ingredients for an awesome snack.

There was everything to make Unnakai. My favorite tea-time (or any-time) snack. It does take a lot of work, but it is all worth it. For making unnakai, First step is to steam ripe banana. After it is cooked, allow it to completely cool down. Then mash it. I was mashing the bananas, and that’s when my mom starts suggesting ‘tips’.
“Don’t mash it. There will be lumps in it. Use the mixer. Then add rice powder to make it crisp”
I ignored. She repeats. I yell!
My mom always does this. She throws suggestions at me. I reject it completely, and then I’ll get second thoughts.
‘CRISP’-That’s the word that catched my attention. I use the mixer and the product turned out to be a sticky paste! So I had to add rice powder (and flour), if I still wanna make the unnakai. Then I made small balls with the dough and stuffed coconot and sugar mixture, and deep fried till it get golden brown color.
It was DELICIOUS( Everyone thought so 🙂 )

I’m posting the recipe here, just in case any of you want to try making it. 🙂

  1. Ripe banana – 2
  2. Grated coconut – 1 cup
  3. Sugar –  6 spoonful
  4. Cardamom – 2
  5. Ghee – 3 tablespoon
  6. Oil

Steam the bananas. Let it cool completely. Mash the bananas & keep it aside.

Heat ghee in a pan & add coconut, sugar & cardamom. Cook it for 4-5 minutes.  Apply a little oil in the hands & make small rolls with mashed bananas. Fill it with coconut mix & roll it  into an oval shape. Fry these rolls in heated oil until it becomes light golden brown.

I’m so over you!

Yup. Its true. I’m over you. And I hope I don’t look back.
Now wait, why did you assume that this was all about some guy?! 😛

Let me make myself clear – I’m so over you, GOOGLE PLUS!

The Google Plus Project may Just Change the Face of SEO and Social Media, But only Time will Tell

The so-called over-hyped-Facebook-Killer , Google Plus did impress me, but there’s nothing exciting happening there. I’m totally Disappointed!! 😀

I seriously thought that this was the end of the Facebook-era.

It does connect you directly to celebrities. More like an advance version of Twitter. But not many celebrities are in Plus yet.

Google+ Project Functionality

I like the idea of  sparks.

Circles is kinda like groups. Facebook also has video chat now. I haven’t tried out Huddle yet. So no comments there.  Everything you need is right there, all neatly arranged. But it somehow doesn’t beat Facebook. All of our lives are now so attached to Facebook, that its hard to leave all that behind. the Friends, the photos, the groups, everything.

Although there is one thing that I like about Google Plus. It makes you feel like a celebrity! Random people starts following you. Creepy, but its kinda fun. In twitter if you don’t update your tweets, you’ll loose followers rapidly. But not in Google plus, it somehow keeps on increasing.

P.S : As for my Project IMDb, its Day 2. Lost yesterday. I was busy as hell. I’m watching The Shawshank Redemption right now.

And one more thing : One of my friends, is expecting a post on ‘World War III’! So here you go. Read All you want. 😛

We had chemistry!

Now that I’ve got your attention, this post has nothing to do with chemistry between two people or any of that kinda crap.

This is entirely based on our Chemistry class in school. Its chemistry, so it was supposed to be boring. No surprise there.

Note : This post contain many events that were kept as secret to the outside world until now. You should be privileged to be a part of this revealing.

Note : We used to write notes like this in our chemistry note books!

So these chemistry classes were the most boring class of my life, at first. But then we found some creative ways to make the class more fun and entertaining. So much fun that we started longing for a Chemistry class.

There is always a main activity and some sub activities. First lets talk about the main activity. For the girls, Its the love letter writing. That’s where all these started. I should take a moment to thank those classes for making me who I am today- a Blogger! You throw a bunch of teenage girls to a boring class and get them talking. Eventually they’ll all get to one topic- Love! Well, not Love exactly but Crushes. I had an awful lot of crushes those days! More about my crushes some other day.

I can proudly say that I started it.  I write letters to my friends. Not as me, but I imagine how their crushes would write to them. It could be Actors, musicians, Sports personalities, or even the boy from a next class! I got to read a bunch of those letters I wrote, last day, and Boy, was I talented! Thanks to my friend for still cherishing it. 🙂

Now lets get to the main activity of the boys. Give them a chalk or a pen, and they’ll create a world full of graffiti. Its like art, but on chairs and walls. You can even expect 3D images on theirs books. I’ve seen some of those and I should say, It was very Creative. 😀

“Lets play Dumb Charades!” In every boring situation, one of us would break the silence and shout out this sentence. Dumb Charades is a word guessing game. During the class, its played among the girls. In the break, it is usually Girls Vs Boys. That was fun.

Our chair looked like this.

In a class you can do a million things to do to irritate the person sitting in front of you. Some of those brilliant things include writing with chalk on the chair or on the shirts and Kicking your best friends chair in class But when he/she looks back, you act totally oblivious like you have NO idea what’s going on.

And my favorite, crushing chalks and placing it on the chair and waiting for an unfortunate person to sit on it.

The person in front of you is like a Christmas tree waiting for its decoration. Tying a small rope on the back of another person’s pants to make it look like a tail was common those days. If the person in the front row is the curly haired boy, expect a lot of decorations with the most unusual things, on his hair. 😀

Throwing chalks and paper planes were some of the less evil things we did.

An the end of all the work, It wouldn’t be a total surprise to see at least some of them sleep like a baby.

Boys have competitions on, who can walk the farthest when the the teacher turns to write on the board.

One of my friend told me that they used to throw water balloons at each other during class. I don’t believe that. But then again, If you can do all the above said things, Anything is possible.

But the more fun is during the Chemistry lab. Titration experiments was the one I love. We did a LOT of titrations. I don’t remember much of what we did in the lab, except that it had something to do with pipettes and burettes and that some chemical we used to do the experiments used to stink like hell.! At the end of our experiments, the teacher would leave the lab and would tell us to clean all the beakers, test tubes etc that we used and to keep it in its place. That’s when the water fight begins. It sure gets wild. 😉

Thanks to our Chemistry Teacher for being so generous and letting us make a lot of memories for us to cherish our whole life. 🙂

And now not a day goes by when I don’t think about these happenings.

  • Waiting for the single P.T. period of the week.
  • Chasing each other during the intervals.
  • So many hands in one lunch box.
  • The birthdays.
  • The morning assembly.
  • Class tours.
  • Annual days.
  • Christmas, New year and valentine’s day.

If I could have one wish now, I would wish for that days to come back.

Me, My Unlucky Dress and a Sleepy Interviewer!

Describe your first job interview:

The title describes it all! My very first and the only interview of my life so far happened a couple of months ago.

I wrote an online aptitude test. When I say online, i don’t mean sitting in-front of my PC, at my home and Googling the answers in the next tab! I had to go there to attend it. 😮

It was a 6 hour train ride. Reached there at 4am. Sat in the railway station for couple of hours and Off we went for the Test.

In the middle of these I realized that I don’t have the Hall Ticket! 😦 I was supposed to print it from a website. Do you know what the first thing I did was? I updated it on Facebook! 😉 Everyone told me that they never check the hall ticket, so I don’t have to worry. Well, the truth is I was never worried. 🙂

I was just too excited to care! I’m in a place far away from home, I just wanted to enjoy all the scenery. All the buses where either Green Or Red. 😮 That was new to me. All the buses in my town had a lot of colors on them. Easy to identify. 😉

Okay, Back to the topic. Reached the college where the test was. There was not much shops around, and all of it was closed since it was like 8.30am. The watch man let me in, after some soft-soap! 😉

I went in and told one of the volunteer that I didn’t have a hall ticket. He told me to take the print out if possible, or else they would provide another one after some time. 😮  I had a lot of time, so I decided to take the print.

There was a computer center in-front of the college. It was closed. So I called the number given on the board and the owner said he would open it in 5min.  Got the print. And went for the exam. The exam was timed, so I clicked on a lot of B’s and C’s and finished it!  😉 The result will be published at the end of the day.

Went to the Railway station to go back home. Reached home. Checked the result. My name was not there so I slept peacefully. Next day a friend called and told me that a new list was published with more names. Me and my friend was in it. and the interview was next day. 😀  It was already 10pm, so we decided to go in the early morning train.

That’s where my unlucky dress come in! It was a Salwar that I specially bought to wear on interviews!!

Got up early morning. Got on the train and started studying some books. After an hour or so, I shut the book and started looking out the windows.! Typical! 😉

The train was a little late that day. Somehow we managed to reach there on time. Filled up a form they gave me, and started waiting for the very first interview of my life to start.  Very Impatient.

I went in. The interviewer was at the end of a big room. Long walk, and finally reached there. The interviewer told me to take the seat. I did. I handed him the form I just filled which contains all the information about the projects, and seminars I’ve done. The first question as expected ‘Tell me about yourself.’ Then he started asking about the project and seminars. After a couple of minutes, I realized that he’s only half awake! Am I that boring?! 😮

I spoke a little loudly hoping that he would wake up!. Well it worked, He asked me to write a C Program, which I didn’t know. I should have let him sleep!

The ‘interview’ lasted only 6 or 7 minutes. 😮 I was rejected. But that was expected!

There you have it, my first interview and the story behind it. I did go for another recruitment, wearing the same dress. I was out in the aptitude test! See now, that’s why its unlucky! I’m never wearing that again.! At-least I can blame it on the dress for now!! 😉

I wrote a post on superstitions yesterday. Hope you all have read it. There’s nothing creepy about that! 😀

Okay, the thing is that i wanted to write a post about bad omens. You know, just a random topic. I was so busy that i didnt get much time to sit in front of the PC. So i decided to write it from my phone while i was sitting in a bus. I wrote ‘Omen’ as the title and suddenly my phone got switched off. Just like that! Now that’s creepy huh?

So what do you think that was all about??

That some unknown force is trying to tell me about the future or is telling me that there is some disaster going to hit the earth.. Or it was to indicate that something terrible is going to happen to me or the bus i was travelling in??

Do you know what i think?!

If you had to debate a version of yourself that was ten years younger, who would win? What about a game of chess? Or a 5k run? How are you better, or worse, at various traits than you were then?

Me Vs 10 year younger me. As most people know, I was (still am!) a VERY shy girl. 🙂 The current me would win the debate hands down. 10yr younger me wouldn’t even bother opening her mouth! I was a girl who say something only when I was asked something. All other times, I would just pointlessly stare into thin air with a look on my face that would restrict people from talking to me! :p I know, I was weird!  People tell me that I always look angry or bored. May be I was angry or bored, or maybe its just how I am! 🙂

So in a debate, the current me wins. But that’s definitely not the case for the chess and the 5k run. My brains don’t work the way I expect it to work these days! I was good at chess once. I used to play against my dad and even against my brother. Old times, Good Times 🙂 I don’t win all the time, but I don’t loose that much either. So to me, thats way better than good. 😉

I was never an outdoor person. Not now,or 10years ago. But in a race, younger me would win. She wouldn’t win it by her extraordinary speed or anything, but maybe by cheating! 😛

I believe that I talk more now, compared with the younger me. More matured obviously! More aware of how to behave. 🙂

I challenge younger me for a cooking face-off! That I’m 100% sure that I’m gonna win. 10years ago I didn’t even know how to boil water! 😀 You in? 😛
